coding + Animation
Coding + Animation
For Students Entering Grades 1st To 3rd Fall 2017
Combine logic and creativity to bring objects to life with this merging of computer programming and animation. Using MIT’s Scratch computer language, campers create code that energizes their favorite superheroes, animates an interactive pet, and powers music videos with each camper as the star! But the fun and learning does not end there. Kids explore claymation, pixilation, and other stop motion techniques to create imaginative and entertaining videos with their peers. We’re ready for our Launch campers to shout, “lights, cameras, action!” No previous coding experience is required; however campers must be comfortable working independently on a computer, including operating the computer using a mouse and reading and understanding basic words used to code.
NOTE: Full-day Launch camps engage children mentally as well as physically. Half of each day is spent working on theme based projects and challenges. The other half of each day is spent participating in a combination of high energy games and STEM exploration activities. Campers go outdoors and should come with sneakers and sunscreen pre-applied. For additional information please refer to the Sample Camp Day schedule found on the Summer Camps page of this website.
